The Jerry Ortiz Memorial Boxing and Youth Foundation was established in honor of Detective Jerry Ortiz. On June 25, 2005, Detective Ortiz paid the ultimate sacrifice when he was slain in the line of duty while apprehending a gang member on the streets of Hawaiian Gardens. A boxing center and youth fitness gym was erected in his name for disadvantaged youth from Los Angeles County.

Doryan Carrillo is a four year old who has been battling brain cancer since he was 14 months old. Doryan and his family have had a tough three years, but with the help of Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, his cancer is currently in remission. Doryan and his family have been an inspiration to everyone who've had the pleasure of meeting them.
